3 changes that England should make in the 4th Test against India

The English team started the Test series against India on a high but in the two last two Tests, they have suffered setbacks. In Rajkot, they were completely rattled by how India made a comeback. Now the action shifts to Ranchi and the visitors have no option but to win the match to keep the hopes alive in the series. In this article, we will take a look at 3 changes that England should make in the 4th Test against India.

Ollie Robinson for James Anderson

It is hard to use the term ‘drop’ when we talk about James Anderson. That is how significant his contribution has been to English cricket. But looking at the workload and the inhospitable conditions in India for a fast bowler it is wise to replace him with another fast bowler in the playing XI.

Ollie Robinson is the other fast-bowling option with the English team and he can be a good alternative to replace Anderson. If the management wants then Anderson can make a comeback in Dharamshala which will also be a much more conducive venue for him.

Dan Lawrence for Jonny Bairstow

The English middle-order batter Jonny Bairstow is going through his worst form in the last few years. His batting performances have been pathetic and the English team is effectively playing without a batter. There needs to be an urgent course correction because the Ranchi Test is a must-win encounter for England. Dan Lawrence should be given an opportunity to showcase his skills in the next Test.

Shoaib Bashir for Rehan Ahmed

The 19-year-old leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed has found it difficult to take wickets consistently in the first three Test matches. Another thing that does not favour his selection in the next Test is his inability to keep things tight for the Indian batters. Rehan has been expensive which does not allow England to build pressure on the opposition. The off-spinner Shoaib Bashir can bring that control and the team management should look in his direction.
