Mumbai Indians have been extremely successful so far in the Women’s Premier League, winning all of their four matches. Next up, they are set to challenge Gujarat Giants on March 14 at the Braboune Stadium in Mumbai. Notably, the visiting side, Gujarat are not in a great position and would want to defeat the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side to strengthen their position on the points table.
Their skipper Beth Mooney is already ruled out of the competition and that has been a major blow to the side. Also, to everyone’s surprise, England international Sophia Dunkley was benched in the last match against Delhi Capitals despite being in remarkable form. Against Delhi, their batting unit completely misfired while the bowlers looked pale. With the tournament at its halfway mark, there are a lot of concerns for Gujarat team.
Coming to Mumbai, they have been sensational so far. Be it with the bat or the ball, the team has looked sharp and has been ready to take on any opponent. In their last match against UP Warriorz, skipper Harmanpreet registered her second half-century of the campaign while Nat Sciver-Burnt and Yastika Bhatia were in excellent touch as well. With the ball, Saika Ishaque has been playing some phenomenal cricket and the Kolkata-born cricketer looks set to make her debut for the national team.
