Defending champions Adelaide Strikers Women are all set to begin their 2023 Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) campaign as they face Melbourne Strikers Women on Saturday, October 21, at the Karen Rolton Oval, in Adelaide.
Adelaide had a spectacular campaign last season as they won 10 out of the 16 matches they played. Aussie all-rounder Tahlia McGrath led her team quite well in the tournament. She will once again be at the helm and will look to inspire her team to consecutive WBBL titles. There are a lot of star-studded players in the side and if they click as a unit, there is no reason they can’t go the distance once again.
Melbourne Stars blew hot and cold last season and finished sixth on the points table. However, they have started the latest season on a positive note. They played the first match of the tournament against Sydney Sixers Women and won the thrilling contest by just two runs. Skipper Meg Lanning scored a brilliant half-century while Annabel Sutherland and Maia Bouchier chipped in with vital cameos. Sutherland also stood out with the ball with a four-for.

Meg Lanning (Melbourne Stars)
The Aussie stalwart played an excellent knock of 55 off 34 balls, hitting eight fours and a solitary six against Sydney in the first game. If the veteran gets going, she could take the game away from the Strikers. Lanning’s ability to bat deep allows the other batters to play freely around her.
Probable Best Bowler

The experienced Aussie seamer finished as the leading wicket-taker with 27 scalps from 15 matches in WBBL last year. She will be a difficult customer to tackle, especially with the new ball and her duel with Lanning inside the Powerplay could be decisive.
