New Zealand (NZ-W) and Australia (AUS-W) will lock horns in the all-important third ODI at Basin Reserve in Wellington on Monday, December 23.
After the first ODI was abandoned without a ball being bowled, the Aussies ruled the roost in the second to register a comfortable 65-run win via DLS method. Annabel Sutherland powered the tourists to a formidable score of 291/7 in their 50 overs as she smashed a belligerent century. The 23-year-old played an unbeaten knock of 105 runs which came off just 85 deliveries. She hit 11 fours and two sixes, finishing with a strike rate of 129.63. With the ball, Molly Penfold produced a solid effort as her four-for was a treat to watch.
In reply, New Zealand were placed at 122/5 in 30.1 overs when play was stopped due to rain. As the weather Gods didn’t allow more cricket to take place on the day, Australia registered a comprehensive win to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
