After an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Australia in the second ODI of the series in Visakhapatnam, team India will aim to make a strong comeback and win the third match on March 22, at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Notably, the Aussies will not make it any easy for the Rohit Sharma-led side. They absolutely dominated the Men in Blue in the previous match and will be desperate to win the third ODI and take revenge for the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, in which they suffered a 2-1 defeat.
For India, it is going to be a very tough challenge. Michell Starc absolutely decimated them in the previous match and they can’t let the same thing happen again. Thus, ahead of the all-important ODI World Cup, the batters will have a great chance to prove themselves in the middle and cement their spot in the squad as quality players like Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda and Shreyas Iyer are currently waiting in the wings. When it comes to bowlers, spinners will have a lot of responsibility in the third ODI.
For Australia, the strategy will be pretty similar to the last one. They would hope that the bowlers will once again get the job done but this time, things might not go as planned. The surface in Chennai hardly helps the pacers and thus, the spinners this time will have to step up and show their class. When it comes to their batting, opener Mitchell Marsh is in terrific form at the moment while David Warner might finally make his return to the playing XI.
