Saint Lucia Kings (SLK) and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKN) will face each other in Match 6 of the Caribbean Premier League 2023 on Monday, August 21 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia.
Faf du Plessis-led SLK have played a couple of matches so far in this year’s competition and have one win and one loss in their kitty. SLK lost to defending champions Jamaica Tallawahs in the opening fixture of the season by 11 runs as they came close to chasing down a steep target of 188. In SLK’s second match against Barbados Royals, their batters ruled the roost as they posted 201/6 in their 20 overs. Captain Rovman Powell used seven bowlers while trying to defend the daunting total and none of them went wicketless. Matthew Forde was awarded Player of the Match for his sensational effort of 3/12 in three overs.
ST Kitts and Nevis Patriots had a forgettable campaign in 2022 as they finished fifth in the six-team league with just three wins in 10 matches. Two of their games ended in No Result. This will be the second match for SKN as they play their first game against Trinbago Knight Riders. Last season, SNP lost their first couple of matches. They would want to begin on a brighter note this time. Ambati Rayudu will be a player who could make a difference for SKN as he recently showed his class during his match-winning cameo in the finals of the Indian Premier League 2023, in what was his last fixture before retirement from the cash-rich league.

Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium Pitch Report
The pitch at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium has been good for batting with a lot of runs being scored, especially in the first innings. Captains winning the toss wouldn’t mind batting first on the flat deck on offer and put up a total in excess of 190 to put the opposition team under pressure.

Probable Top Performers
Probable Best Batter of the Match
Faf du Plessis – Saint Lucia Kings
The South African batter can light up the stadium with his explosive batting and can also play the anchor’s role if needed. He didn’t get off to a great start in the tournament as he was dismissed cheaply in the first game. However, against Barbados Royals, Faf scored a brilliant 32-ball 46 and laid a solid platform alongside fellow opener Johnson Charles. SLK will be hoping for more of the same from their captain.
Probable Best Bowler of the Match
Alzarri Joseph – Saint Lucia Kings
The tall West Indian pacer didn’t have a memorable campaign in the five-match T20I series against India as he picked up just four wickets in as many matches at an economy of just under nine. However, he has been very impressive in the two matches he has played in the ongoing CPL, picking up three wickets at an economy of just 6. He would be crucial for the Kings as he will be bowling some difficult overs.
