Ireland vs India, 2nd T20I, Stats Review: Arshdeep Singh fastest 50 wickets, Andrew Balbirnie feat, and other stats

With a composed batting from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rinku Singh’s 38-run knock, followed by an all-round bowling display from bowlers, India edged out Ireland by a margin of 33 runs in the second T20I at The Village, in Dublin.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bowl first. Craig Young drew first blood for Ireland by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal for 18 runs. Tilak Varma was next to go, for just 1 run. Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad then added 71 runs for the third wicket. Samson made 40 runs before being dismissed by Benjamin White. Gaikwad brought up his fifty before being dismissed by Barry McCarthy.

Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube then put together a 55-run partnership for the fifth wicket. However, Mark Adair broke the partnership by dismissing Rinku for 38 runs. Dube finished unbeaten on 22, as India posted 185 runs in their 20 overs.

In response to India’s 185, Prasidh Krishna struck early, dismissing Paul Stirling and Lorcan Tucker for ducks. Ravi Bishnoi also chipped in with two wickets, as Ireland were left reeling at 63-4. Andrew Balbirnie and George Dockrell then put on a 52-run partnership for the fifth wicket, but Balbirnie was eventually dismissed by Arshdeep Singh for 72. The lower-order batters could not provide much resistance, and Ireland scored 152/8 in 20 overs, losing by 33 runs. Rinku Singh won the Player of the Match award for his 38-run knock. With this win, India lead the series (2-0) now.

74 -Jasprit Bumrah has picked up 74 wickets in T20Is, making him the third-highest wicket-taker among Indian bowlers. Yuzvendra Chahal tops the list with 96 wickets, followed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 90 wickets.

1- Arshdeep Singh has become the fastest Indian pacer to complete 50 wickets in T20Is, taking just 33 matches to do so. He is followed by Jasprit Bumrah, who took 41 matches, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who took 50 matches.
