In this article, we will discuss the highlights of the 3rd ODI between PAK and ZIM, played in Bulawayo on November 28, 2024. This thrilling encounter marked the conclusion of Pakistan’s tour of Zimbabwe, where Pakistan displayed a dominant performance. With a solid total of 303/6 set by their batters and an exceptional bowling effort, they secured a commanding 99-run victory, clinching the series in style.

In the 3rd ODI of Pakistan’s tour of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo on November 28, 2024, Pakistan secured a convincing 99-run victory. Batting first, Pakistan posted an impressive 303/6, with contributions from their top-order batsmen. In response, Zimbabwe stumbled after a promising start, collapsing to 204 all out in 40.1 overs. Pakistan’s bowlers dominated the game, ensuring a comfortable series-clinching win.

PAK put up a strong batting display, finishing with a competitive total of 303/6 in their 50 overs. The innings began with a steady partnership between openers Saim Ayub (31 off 37) and Abdullah Shafique (50 off 68), who added 58 runs for the first wicket. Shafique played the anchor role, while Ayub provided early momentum before falling to Faraz Akram in the 13th over.

The standout performance came from Kamran Ghulam, who scored a magnificent 103 off 99 balls, laced with 10 fours and 4 sixes. Ghulam built crucial partnerships, including a vital 89-run stand with Captain Mohammad Rizwan (37 off 47), to keep the innings on track.

Following Ghulam’s dismissal in the 45th over, the middle-order took charge. Salman Agha (30 off 26) and Tayyab Tahir (29* off 16) provided the late surge, helping Pakistan cross the 300-run mark.

Zimbabwe’s bowling attack struggled to contain Pakistan’s batters, with Sikandar Raza (2/47) and Richard Ngarava (2/55) being the most effective. However, inconsistent bowling, including 15 extras, proved costly. Despite occasional breakthroughs, the bowlers failed to stem the flow of runs, especially in the death overs, allowing Pakistan to finish strongly.

ZIM faced a tough challenge chasing 304 and faltered against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling, managing only 204 runs in 40.1 overs to lose by 99 runs. The innings started poorly with early dismissals of Joylord Gumbie (5 off 9) and Dion Myers (4 off 4), both falling to part-timer Saim Ayub. Tadiwanashe Marumani (24 off 30) offered brief resistance before being trapped lbw by Abrar Ahmed, leaving Zimbabwe struggling at 49/3 by the ninth over.

Skipper Craig Ervine led the fightback with a composed 51 off 63, supported by Sean Williams (24 off 29) in a 41-run partnership. However, Williams’ dismissal to Haris Rauf triggered a middle-order collapse. Despite efforts from Sikandar Raza (16 off 25) and a quickfire 37 off 27 by Brian Bennett, Zimbabwe failed to build sustained partnerships.

The lower order showed some resistance, with Richard Ngarava (17 off 16) providing a brief spark, but the collapse continued as Zimbabwe lost their last five wickets for just 34 runs. Pakistan’s bowling attack was sharp and varied, with Aamer Jamal (2/19) and Haris Rauf (2/34) delivering crucial breakthroughs. Abrar Ahmed (2/45) and Saim Ayub (2/29) also played pivotal roles, while Kamran Ghulam (1/7) and Faisal Akram (1/37) contributed to a dominant performance.

Zimbabwe’s inability to forge partnerships and counter Pakistan’s bowlers resulted in a comprehensive defeat, sealing the series for Pakistan.
