IND vs SA (4th T20) – Highlights

In this article, we will discuss the thrilling encounter in the 4th T20I of the IND tour of SA, held in Johannesburg on November 15, 2024. India unleashed batting fireworks, smashing 283/1 in 20 overs. South Africa, chasing Mount Impossible, stumbled to 148 all out in 18.2 overs. India emerged victorious by a dominant 135-run margin, showcasing their superiority in all departments of the game.

India’s batting performance in the 4th T20I against South Africa was nothing short of explosive. Sanju Samson played a remarkable knock, remaining unbeaten on 109 off 56 balls, smashing 6 fours and 9 sixes, and maintaining a strike rate of 194.64.

He was well supported by Tilak Varma, who also delivered a brilliant innings, scoring 120* off just 47 balls, with 9 fours and 10 sixes, boasting a strike rate of 255.31. Together, they took India to a colossal total of 283/1 in 20 overs.

Abhishek Sharma contributed a quickfire 36 off 18 balls before falling to Sipamla, with the partnership between Samson and Varma proving to be the game-changer. The Indian batters were aggressive from the outset, with Varma’s power hitting and Samson’s consistent strokeplay taking the South African bowlers to task.

SA bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, with Lutho Sipamla being the only bowler to take a wicket, dismissing Sharma for 36. The other bowlers, including Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, and Andile Simelane, were expensive, as India capitalized on every opportunity, posting an imposing target of 284 runs.

South Africa’s chase of 284 runs in the 4th T20I against India got off to a disastrous start, losing early wickets. Ryan Rickelton (1) and Reeza Hendricks (0) were dismissed cheaply, while Aiden Markram (8) and Heinrich Klaasen (0) followed shortly, leaving the team reeling at 10/4 after just 3 overs.

Tristan Stubbs was the standout performer for South Africa, scoring 43 off 29 balls, but he was dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi. David Miller (36 off 27 balls) and Marco Jansen (29* off 12 balls) made some attempts to revive the innings, with Jansen’s late flurry of boundaries boosting the run rate. However, the required rate was always beyond reach.

The middle and lower order also struggled to get going, with Andile Simelane (2), Gerald Coetzee (12), Keshav Maharaj (6), and Lutho Sipamla (3) all falling quickly. Despite some resistance from Jansen, South Africa could only manage 148 runs, falling 135 runs short of their target.

The IND bowlers, led by Arshdeep Singh (3/20) and Ravi Bishnoi (1/28), delivered crucial blows at the right moments, and Hardik Pandya (1/8) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/42) played key supporting roles. Axar Patel’s economical spell (2/6) also helped keep the pressure on, and India won comfortably by 135 runs.
