The Adelaide Strikers stacked up a hefty 185/8, putting on a batting showcase that kept the scoreboard sizzling. However, Melbourne Renegades delivered a remarkable response, chasing down the target with ease and winning by 9 wickets in just 17.1 overs. This victory, achieved with 17 balls to spare, highlighted the Renegades’ batting prowess and underscored their strength in the tournament.

The Adelaide Strikers Women put up a solid batting performance, reaching 185/8 in their 20 overs. Opener Smriti Mandhana provided an explosive start, scoring a quick 40 off 25 balls with 7 fours, striking at a superb 160.00 strike rate. Her partnership with Katie Mack, who scored 19 off 18, set a strong foundation before Mack was caught by Dottin off Capsey’s bowling in the sixth over.

Laura Wolvaardt added stability with her 27 off 27 but was unable to accelerate, falling to Illingworth in the 15th over. Captain Tahlia McGrath was the star of the innings, scoring a blazing 49 off just 24 balls, including 8 fours and a six, at an incredible strike rate of 204.16, propelling the Strikers to a competitive total. Despite her impactful knock, she was dismissed in the 17th over, caught by Stalenberg off Dottin’s bowling.

Orla Prendergast’s quick 24 off 12 balls, along with a few handy contributions from Bridget Patterson (6 off 3) and Amanda-Jade Wellington (4 off 2), helped the Strikers push their score to 185.

In the bowling department, Hayley Matthews led for the Renegades, taking 2 wickets for 28 runs in her 4 overs. Milly Illingworth and Alice Capsey also contributed with a wicket each, while Sarah Coyte’s economical spell of 3 overs for 19 runs helped keep the Strikers in check in the final overs.

The MR-W put on a commanding chase, reaching 186/1 in just 17.1 overs to secure a comprehensive 9-wicket win over Adelaide Strikers. Captain Hayley Matthews anchored the innings brilliantly, scoring an unbeaten 85 off 54 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes, maintaining a strong strike rate of 157.40. She was well-supported by Courtney Webb, who made 37 off 29 before retiring hurt, with 6 fours to her name.

Alice Capsey was the only wicket to fall, scoring 4 off 3 balls before being caught by Prendergast off Darcie Brown in the 12th over. Deandra Dottin then came in and played an explosive knock, hammering 46 off just 18 balls, including 7 fours and a six at an impressive strike rate of 255.55, ensuring the Renegades crossed the finish line with 17 balls to spare.

The AS-W bowlers struggled to contain the aggressive batting, with Darcie Brown picking up the only wicket but conceding 43 runs in her 4 overs. Megan Schutt was economical, giving away 21 runs in her 3 overs, but the rest of the bowlers proved costly.
