However, Ruturaj Gaikwad, leading the side, took control of the innings. His classy 63 off 44 balls kept Chennai in the hunt. Gaikwad found solid support from Rahul Tripathi, who contributed 23, and Shivam Dube, who struck a quick 18 off just 10 balls.

Just when it seemed like Chennai was building momentum, Wanindu Hasaranga turned the game on its head. The Sri Lankan spinner showcased his T20 expertise, picking up four crucial wickets. Needing 19 off the final over, Chennai fell just short as Jamie Overton’s quick 11 off four balls wasn’t enough to see them through.
