KINGS vs SYS (19th Match) – Highlights

In this article, we will discuss the thrilling 19th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025, held in Sylhet on January 13, where the KINGS faced off against the SYS. The Kings showcased a dominant performance, posting an imposing total of 203/6 in their 20 overs. In response, the Strikers struggled to keep pace with the steep target, managing only 173/8 by the end of their innings. This emphatic 30-run victory for the Chittagong Kings not only highlighted their batting prowess but also underscored their ability to control the game under pressure.

Opening batsman Usman Khan anchored the innings early with a measured 53 off 35 balls, smashing 8 boundaries and a six. Although his opening partner, Parvez Hossain Emon, was dismissed cheaply for 7, the team’s momentum was maintained by Graham Clark, who delivered a scintillating 60 off 33 balls. Clark’s innings, studded with 3 fours and 5 sixes, ensured that the Kings capitalized on the powerplay and middle overs.

The team captain, Mohammad Mithun, chipped in with a steady 28 off 19 balls before falling in the 17th over, but the fireworks truly began when Haider Ali came to the crease. Haider’s explosive unbeaten knock of 42 from just 18 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes, propelled the KINGS past the 200-run mark. Late contributions from Shamim Hossain (1) and Mohammad Wasim (3) were minor, but they ensured the team didn’t lose steam towards the end.

The Kings finished their innings at an imposing 203/6, setting a daunting challenge for the Strikers. Among Sylhet’s bowlers, Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2/38) and Nahidul Islam (1/30) were the most successful, though they couldn’t prevent the onslaught from Chittagong’s batters.

Pursuing a daunting 204, the Sylhet Strikers stumbled out of the gate with a calamitous beginning. Paul Stirling was dismissed for a golden duck in the very first over, followed by a quick fall of wickets that left them reeling at 42/3 in the powerplay. Zakir Hasan’s 25 off 19 balls showed some intent, but his dismissal further added to the SYS woes. George Munsey provided a glimmer of hope with a well-compiled 52 off 37 balls, hitting 4 fours and as many sixes.

Jaker Ali played an extraordinary knock, smashing an unbeaten 47 off just 23 balls, laced with 3 fours and 4 sixes, but lacked support from the lower order. Ariful Haque (12 off 7) offered a brief cameo before falling to Al Islam. Mohammad Wasim was the star bowler for the Kings, taking 3/25 in his four overs. Tight bowling at the death by Shoriful Islam (1/34) and Al Islam (2/36) ensured the Strikers fell short, finishing at 173/8.
