GT vs LSG (26th Match) – Highlights
On April 12th, Lucknow’s home ground was set for the 26th match of the IPL 2025 season between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In an exciting match, LSG chased down a challenging target of 181 runs with 3 balls to spare, claiming victory by 6 wickets.
Gujarat Titans, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, managed to post a total of 180/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan was the team’s standout batter, playing a composed knock of 56 off 37 balls, which featured seven boundaries and a six. His innings kept the Titans’ momentum steady throughout.
Shubman Gill also contributed significantly, scoring 60 runs off 38 balls, with six fours and a six to his name. Despite their solid starts, the Titans found it difficult to accelerate during the final overs. The loss of key wickets, including Jos Buttler for 16 and Sherfane Rutherford for 22, thwarted their chances of setting an even bigger total.
Washington Sundar (2 off 3 balls) and Rahul Tewatia (0 off 1) struggled to get going, and the lower order failed to make any significant impact. M Shahrukh Khan remained not out on 11, while Rashid Khan managed a quickfire 4 from 2 balls. Despite their efforts, the final total of 180 wasn’t enough to secure a victory.
For LSG, Ravi Bishnoi and Shardul Thakur were the standout performers with the ball, each picking up two wickets. Bishnoi was particularly impressive during the middle overs, giving away only 36 runs in his 4-over spell.
Chasing a target of 181, Lucknow Super Giants got off to a solid start, but lost their captain, Rishabh Pant, early for 21, dismissed by Prasidh Krishna. It was Aiden Markram, however, who took control of the chase. His explosive innings of 58 runs from 31 balls, which featured nine boundaries and a six, set the tone for the pursuit.
Alongside Markram, Nicholas Pooran played a scintillating knock of 61 runs off 34 balls, including one boundary and seven sixes. Pooran’s dominance in the middle overs kept LSG on track with the required run rate, and together, they shared a vital 58-run partnership for the second wicket.
The Titans did manage to break the partnership when Rashid Khan removed Pooran, but by then the damage had been done. David Miller was dismissed cheaply for 7, leaving LSG at 174/4. Despite the late loss of wickets, Ayush Badoni remained calm under pressure, scoring an unbeaten 28 off 20 balls. He provided the finishing touch, ensuring that Lucknow crossed the line with 3 balls to spare.
The game’s standout performer was Aiden Markram, who not only played a match-winning knock but also took two important catches in the field. His all-around contribution earned him the Player of the Match award. LSG’s chase was well-paced, with key contributions from both Pooran and Markram, and their disciplined batting outshone the Titans’ bowling attack.
