CSK vs KKR (25th Match) – Highlights
The Chennai Super Kings had a night to forget at the MA Chidambaram Stadium as the Kolkata Knight Riders cruised to a dominant 8-wicket win in Match 25 of IPL 2025. Sunil Narine stole the spotlight with a stunning all-round display, earning the Player of the Match honor. The veteran all-rounder turned the game on its head, claiming three vital scalps before unleashing a fiery 44 off just 18 balls.
Sent in to bat first, CSK Openers Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway failed to provide the solid foundation the team needed—Ravindra fell cheaply for 4, while Conway managed a scratchy 12 before being trapped lbw by Moeen Ali. The middle order showed brief signs of resistance, with Vijay Shankar scoring a brisk 29 off 21 balls and Rahul Tripathi adding 16, but both were eventually undone by KKR’s sharp and disciplined bowling unit.
Shivam Dube stood tall as CSK’s lone fighter, grinding out an unbeaten 31 off 29 deliveries. But with minimal support from the other end, Chennai’s innings struggled to gain any momentum. The real downfall began after the halfway mark, triggered by Sunil Narine’s masterful spell that saw him dismiss key players—Tripathi, Jadeja, and Dhoni—in quick succession. The tail offered little resistance, as Deepak Hooda and Noor Ahmad fell without impact, leaving CSK to crawl to a modest total of 103 for 9 in their 20 overs.
For KKR, the bowling unit operated with clinical precision. Narine was simply unplayable with figures of 3 for 13 in his 4 overs. Harshit Rana continued to impress with his control and picked up two wickets for just 16 runs. Varun Chakravarthy also chipped in with a couple of scalps, while Moeen Ali and Vaibhav Arora claimed one wicket each.
In reply, KKR’s chase was explosive and ruthless. Sunil Narine opened the innings and took the attack to the bowlers from ball one. His 44-run blitz came off just 18 deliveries and included 5 towering sixes. His assault left CSK’s bowlers stunned and flattened the already small target. He was eventually dismissed by Noor Ahmad, but by then the damage was done.
Quinton de Kock provided good support at the top with a quickfire 23, but it was the calm finishing by Ajinkya Rahane and Rinku Singh that sealed the game for KKR. Rahane, standing in as captain, remained unbeaten on 20, while Rinku finished with 15 not out. The chase was completed in just 10.1 overs, reflecting the one-sided nature of the contest.
