In a thrilling encounter on April 10, 2025, the Delhi Capitals registered a dominant six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The match, which was the 24th of the IPL season, saw a clinical chase by the Capitals, led by an outstanding knock from KL Rahul.

RCB, opting to bat first, managed to put up a competitive total of 163/7 in their 20 overs, but their performance with the bat was inconsistent. Phil Salt came out all guns blazing, blasting 37 off 17 balls, which included four boundaries and three sixes, setting a fiery tone early on. However, his unfortunate run-out in the fourth over triggered a collapse, and RCB struggled to maintain momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. 

Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar fell cheaply, with Padikkal dismissed for just 1 run and Patidar for 25 runs. The middle-order also collapsed, as Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone were dismissed early, leaving RCB in a precarious position at 102/5 by the 12th over. 

The lower order attempted to recover, with Tim David contributing a crucial 37 runs off 20 balls, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar remained unbeaten on 1. Despite these efforts, RCB ended up with a modest total of 163/7 in their 20 overs, which was considered underwhelming given the explosive talent in their lineup.

Chasing 164 for victory, Delhi Capitals had a turbulent start, losing both Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk early. By the second over, they were precariously positioned at 9/2, leaving them with a lot of work to do. However, KL Rahul stepped up with a stellar knock, guiding the team through the crisis. 

Rahul played a composed innings, finishing unbeaten on 93 from 53 balls, with seven boundaries and six sixes. His performance was the backbone of the chase, and he found solid support from Tristan Stubbs, who played a brisk knock of 38 off 23 balls. The pair put on 111 runs for the third wicket, securing a comfortable win for the Capitals.

While RCB bowlers tried to keep the pressure on, it was Rahul’s classy knock that ultimately sealed the game for Delhi. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal were the pick of the bowlers for RCB, claiming two wickets each, but the target was just too small for the bowlers to defend.

KL Rahul was rightfully named the Player of the Match for his match-winning innings and his impressive performance behind the stumps, where he also took two catches. His efforts helped Delhi chase down the target with 13 balls to spare, securing the much-needed two points for his side.
