Yuzvendra Chahal posts cryptic story post team India snub for Asia Cup 2023

BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar announced India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2023 on Monday, August 21. The 17-member squad featured several players who’ve made a comeback to the team after recovering from their respective injuries such as KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. However, there was one surprise exclusion of the wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who’s been a regular member of the team for past four years.

Chahal’s exclusion came as a surprise to many as he’s been a regular member of the team over the past five years. Following his snub, the 33-year-old posted a cryptic message on his social media handle. Chahal shared a couple of emojis with a hidden message. The first emoji showed the sun getting behind clouds while the second showed it completely risen without any clouds near it.

It seems as if the cricketer wanted to imply that the ‘sun will rise again soon’ much like the current India captain Rohit Sharma’s tweet from 2018. Notably, Rohit had tweeted the same after being dropped from the Test team.

Here’s Chahal’s Tweet:

Yuzevndra Chahal enjoyed a brilliant run during IPL 2023 where he managed to pick up 21 wickets from 14 innings at an average of 20.57 and an economy of 8.17. His sensational outing even propelled him to the top of the list of the highest wicket takers in the history of IPL with 187 wickets to his name.

Kuldeep is currently a little ahead of Chahal: Ajit Agarkar

The 33-year-old even had good numbers in ODIs since 2021 averaging just over 26 with the ball with 29 wickets from 18 matches. However, he fell out of favour with Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel getting a go ahead of him. Chief Selector Agarkar also stated the same in the press conference.

“Axar Patel has done really well. He can bat too. Kuldeep Yadav has had a fantastic run to this point. So someone had to miss out. Kuldeep is currently a little ahead of him (Chahal),” Agarkar said in the press conference.
