India ended their 11-year-long drought for an ICC trophy after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29. The whole of the Indian team remained unchanged for most of the tournament, barring Mohammed Siraj’s replacement by Kuldeep Yadav in the Super 8 stages of the tournament. With Kuldeep holding the reins of spin 5l department as Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja the other spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal failed to fetch a spot in the playing XI.
Chahal was another player along with Sanju Samson who did not feature in a single game in the tournament. But the contribution of an athlete is beyond the 22-yard pitch, as the spinner was seen accompanying players off the field. As he is rightly part of a champion side, he was felicitated by the Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini in a grand ceremony.
