Legendary cricketer James Anderson hung up his boots after the first Test against West Indies at Lord’s. He represented England in 188 Test matches and has 704 dismissals to his name – third highest in the history of the game. He has been an example for the youngsters as the pacer sacrificed money of franchise cricket to play red-ball cricket, but the trend was going the other way.

Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar lauded Anderson for playing Test cricket for 22 years – which is a remarkable achievement, to say the least. The Master Blaster, as he is popularly known, added that it was a joy for him to watch the Burnley-born pacer bowl and noted that he has inspired an entire generation with his game and professionalism.

Wish you a wonderful life ahead with good health and happiness as you put those new shoes on for the most important spell of your life — the time with family,” Tendulkar posted on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter).
