Team India are marching towards a famous win against Australia in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25), being conducted at the Optus Stadium, in Perth. The Indian pacers were on song in the first innings as they restricted the hosts to just 104 runs. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana combined picked 10 wickets to keep a stronghold on the game.

As the Indian pace battery has grabbed attention, India cricketer turned commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar has got himself into a verbal war with the former India pacer, Vinay Kumar. Manjrekar while addressing the topic of fast bowler termed Kumar as a 120mph bowler while adding that picked wickets with grass on the pitch aiding his cause. Kumar retorted saying, “Your speed gun requires urgent servicing”.

“But I think that’s gone. Medium pacers like the Vinay Kumars, with no disrespect to him, were topping the wicket-taking charts because all they needed to do with grass on the pitch was put the ball at 120 kmph in the right area, and they got wickets,” said Manjrekar while on air during Perth Test.

“Sanjay bhai with due respect, your speed gun requires urgent servicing. 120KMPH Seriously? With God’s grace I take pride in my achievements, I am contented, satisfied and happy with my life. Medium pacer like Vinay Kumar has worked really hard to become the 1st Indian fast bowler to take 100 IPL wickets also played for the country in all the formats. I take pride in my bowling. Anyways best wishes and regards,” Kumar wrote in his post on ‘X’.

India inching closer to famous win against Australia in Perth on Day 4

Speaking of the Perth Test, on the back of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 161 and Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 100 runs, India posted a huge target of 534 runs in front of Australia before declaring their second innings on 487/6. In return, Australia lost three quick wickets in the last session of Day 3 and it was seemingly just a formality on Day 4, as they were seven down with 182 runs on the board in 44 overs.
