English vice-captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt is known for her exceptional all-round skills in the cricketing arena. Being a very cool and calm personality on the field, Sciver-Brunt spoke about the challenges that the player face to keep their emotions in control on the field.

Recently, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur was criticized heavily for the way she had reacted to her dismissal against Bangladesh. However, Sciver-Brunt said that every individual has his/her own way of managing emotions and there shouldn’t be any criticism about that.

Nat Sciver, Kaur’s Mumbai Indians teammate, indirectly supported the Indian skipper on her recent on-field act and said that sometimes, these things can happen on the field in the heat of the moment as players usually remain under a lot of pressure in the match.

“Cricketers get emotional. You can’t suppress it all the time. If you keep bottling it up, you will break at some point. It’s a hard one because you can’t be calm and collected all the time. For me, that’s what I want to be but I’m emotional underneath all of that. It’s just, I can hide it but other people’s personalities don’t allow that. We’ve got to be embracing every individual, however, they deal with pressure. Some get angry at themselves. Some people can cry.”

It still feels a bit unbelievable: Sciver-Brunt on playing in WPL

Sciver-Brunt was a key member of the Mumbai Indians women’s team that won the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League 2023. In the auction, she was the player in demand and got a whopping INR 3.2 crore.

She justified the big auction money she got as she had a brilliant outing in the final of the tournament where she scored a match-winning 60* off 55 deliveries in the high-voltage game and won the trophy for Mumbai Indians

“It still feels a bit unbelievable that it happened. That I got bid for the auction by Mumbai Indians. The price that I got sold for (joint second-most expensive player). Having the competition that I did….you couldn’t have asked for it to be any better. That plays into feeling that I’m at the right place at the right time.”
