India cricket legend and commentator Sunil Gavaskar reacted fierily to the Indian team’s disappointing loss in Adelaide. The former skipper was unhappy with how the practice sessions for the Indian team during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy were managed during the entire five-match Test series.
The Indian team might have started on a good note after a big win in the first Test of the series against Australia. However, the pink-ball Test saw the hosts come back strongly, and they levelled the series by beating them by a 10-wicket margin in Adelaide. The performances of the visitors during this match were very underwhelming as the Aussie completely dominated them in every department and finished the game in just 3 days.
There has been a lot of criticism from the cricketing world after the poor performances of the Indian team especially, towards the star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who failed to make an impact in Adelaide. As a result, the former India legend and commentator Sunil Gavaskar gave his two cents without holding back from his tough advice for Team India. Gavaskar emphasized the importance of practice which will help the players get more accustomed to the Australian playing conditions.
“What I would like this Indian team to do is use the next couple of days for practice. It’s very important. You can’t be sitting in your hotel room or wherever you’re going because you have come here to play cricket,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Gavaskar urges players to not waste days
Furthermore, Gavaskar also suggested a plan for utilizing the pending days ahead of the third Test which will be played in Brisbane. The former India legend believes that Team India can use either the morning or the evening part of a day to conduct vital training sessions. Notably, the third Test of the BGT 2024-25 Test series will begin on Saturday, December 14, in Brisbane.
“You don’t have to practice the whole day. You can practice a session in the morning or afternoon, whichever time you choose, but do not waste these days,” Gavaskar concluded.
