Veteran India batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have long solidified themselves as legends of Indian cricket. Over the years, both batters have made significant contributions to the success of the side. There is no doubt that when the time comes, both batters will be leaving a legendary career behind them.
Recently, both batters retired from T20I cricket after helping India win the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies, and with the twilight of their careers nearing, former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik came forward to name four potential replacements for Rohit and Kohli.
Karthik named the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhishek Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Tilak Varma, who will take the place of the two legendary batters in the Men in Blue’s lineup in the future.
“First of all, they (Rohit and Kohli) are very hard to replace, but in the XI, I do think there are four choices at the moment. There’s Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Shubman Gill. I think Yashasvi Jaiswal will definitely be starting in the XI in T20I cricket,” Dinesh Karthik was quoted as saying by India Today.
Shubman Gill has been named India’s vice captain in ODIs and T20Is for the side’s upcoming tour to Sri Lanka. Through his excellent performances for both India and in the IPL, Gill has earned his keep in the side, and despite a few rough patches, the ace batter is a huge prospect for the future for India.

On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal has solidified himself as a real star player for India. Performing brilliantly in Test cricket and in the IPL, Jaiswal has been a real star performer for India in the top-order, and it is clear that the BCCI wants to invest in him.
Abhishek Sharma recently made his debut for India in the series against Zimbabwe and managed to impress with a century as well.
