After the Indian team’s subpar performance in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, there have been questions raised on the performances of several players. After skipper Rohit Sharma, youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal has also been asked to report to the Mumbai team.

Jaiswal will now be training with the state team at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on Wednesday. The statement was made after the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) talked about the players needing to play more and more domestic cricket to maintain their form at the biggest stage.

It is interesting to note that Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy fixture is scheduled at home from January 23, against Jammu and Kashmir. “He has informed Mumbai coach Omkar Salvi that he is available for the next round of the Ranji Trophy. The selection committee will pick the Mumbai team in the coming days,” an MCA official was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

India set to take on England next

After India’s horrid show in the BGT 2024-25, the side will now shift their focus onto the limited formats. It is worth noting that the Indian team kicked off the BGT with a win in the first Test in Perth. However, due to losses in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney, the side lost the series.

Returning to India, they will now take on England in a white-ball series. Both sides will lock horns across five T20I matches and three ODIs. The five T20Is will be played on January 22, 25, 28, 31, and February 2 in Kolkata, Chennai, Rajkot, Pune, and Mumbai, respectively.

Furthermore, after the T20I series, both India and England will lock horns across three ODI matches on February 6, 9, and 12 in Nagpur, Cuttack, and Ahmedabad, respectively. After their drubbing in Australia, the Men in Blue will hope for an improved performance in the next series.
