Swashbuckling Indian opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, became the first Indian to enrol himself into an immaculate list consisting of only former New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum. He became only the second batter to breach the tally of at least 30 sixes in a calendar year in Tests.
The milestone maximum did not take a lot of time, coming into India’s run-chase of a steep 359 on a Pune track which was doing all sorts for the spinners. Tom Latham-led New Zealand decided to start off with Tim Southee, who was immediately banished over deep square-leg for a hammering six to kick off proceedings. The intent was for all to see as Jaiswal looked to motor along in the remainder of the knock, which consisted of three more sixes, increasing his tally to 32 in 2024.
Here’s how Jaiswal hit his 32nd six of 2024:

Just as Jaiswal was looking all set for a classical century, he was dismissed by Santner with a smart, low catch being taken by Daryl Mitchell at first slip. With the final Test of the series remaining as well as four of the five Tests in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy occurring in the present calendar year, Jaiswal has an abundant number of opportunities lined up in front of him to further augment his figure.
