The World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 standings had some changes made to it with the conclusion of the recent clashes in Test cricket. With another Test series between the West Indies and Bangladesh ending, and the series concluding on a score of 1-1, Bangladesh finished their WTC run in eighth spot in the standings, surpassing the Windies.
However, many fans have been wanting to know how the two-test series between the West Indies and Bangladesh seems to have affected the Indian team’s standings in the WTC table. Much to the fans’ disappointment, the series had little to no effect on India.
Both the Windies and Bangladesh had already been eliminated from the WTC final run; as for the Indian team, the side has managed to retain the top spot in the standings. Currently, India occupies first place in the standings with 15 matches played, alongside nine wins and five losses.
They are closely followed by South Africa, who have five wins and three losses in nine Test matches. Furthermore, Australia occupies third place in the standings with eight wins and four losses in 13 matches.
Rohit Sharma and his men had dropped down to the second spot in the standings after a 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand recently. However, with an astounding win in Perth in the first Test of the series against Australia, India have reclaimed the top spot.
Furthermore, for direct qualification to the WTC final, India must win the BGT 2024-25 by a score of 4-0 or 5-0. However, automatic qualification will not be possible for India if they fail to do so.
For the upcoming clash, India will take on Australia in the second Test of the series in Adelaide. Both sides will lock horns at the Adelaide Oval from December 6 as India looks to make it two wins in a row.
