The 13th encounter of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024) was played at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, featuring a clash between Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore Women. Gujarat Giants dominated the match, securing their first win in the tournament by defeating RCB by 19 runs.
Opting to bat first, Gujarat’s opening duo, Laura Wolvaardt, and captain Beth Mooney added a formidable record of 140 runs in 13 overs for the first wicket. Despite Wolvaardt’s impressive 76-run knock cut short by an unfortunate run-out, Mooney continued her stellar performance, finishing unbeaten with 85 off 51 balls.
RCB struggled in their chase of 200, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Georgia Wareham’s 48 off 22 balls was the standout performance, but RCB fell short by 19 runs, giving Gujarat Giants a well-deserved victory in the 2024 Women’s Premier League.
