The recently-concluded edition of the Test series against Australia capped off a disappointing run with the bat for senior batters, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Both of them had been going through a downturn in performances since the past few months, ever since the Test season commenced with the series against Bangladesh. Due to their underwhelming outings with the bat, a barrage of questions over the two players’ future have been thrown towards them.
English pacer, Tymal Mills, backed Virat and Rohit and was confident that they will themselves figure out the solutions to getting back to their run-scoring selves.
“You don’t get the reputation for scoring the amount of runs these guys (Virat and Rohit) have scored in their careers just by luck. It’s because they’re two of the best players to have ever played (the sport). They’ll be able to ride the highs and the lows better than anybody else, and they’ll obviously have a lot of self-belief in their abilities,” shared Mills with Times of India.

Won’t be surprised to see them both scoring runs again: Mills
Mills further articulated certainty in their batting prowess and predicted them to be among the runs soon.
“They’ve gone through tough times before and come out the other side, and they’ll know what they need to do to come out on the other side (once again). Hopefully, not too much against England, but you won’t be surprised to see them both scoring runs again,” added Mills.
While Mills is currently with Gulf Giants featuring in ILT20 2025, Kohli and Rohit are busy preparing for the ODI series against England. India will be playing five T20Is followed by three ODIs before heading for the upcoming Champions Trophy. For the unversed, the two superstars of Indian cricket hung their boots from the 20-over format after triumphing in previous edition’s T20 World Cup.
