Shreyas Iyer recently expressed his gratitude towards Abhishek Nayar and a few other coaching personnel for sticking along with him during times of hardship. The India batter revealed his urge of staying connected with those who stood by him during his lows.
In a recent discussion, he mentioned the names of Nayar and Pravin Amre as his pillars of strength.
“See, when I am going through lows in my life, only a few people message me. Their names are Praveen Amre sir and Abhishek Nayar. Like I said, Sagar. Sagar, with whom I trained. There are a few more people who supported me very well at that time. I will always keep such people with me because these people have always seen me since my young days. When something is going well, they stay normal. However, when something goes bad, then they are very good with me. So, I appreciate such a kind of mentality. And if such people are around you, then you will definitely grow,” stated Iyer in a conversation with journalist, Vimal Kumar, as quoted by News18.
Notably, Iyer worked alongside Amre when he played for Delhi Capitals. He collaborated with Nayar during his stint with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022 and 2024, respectively. Nayar, a former Mumbai cricketer, has worked closely with Iyer in the Indian setup too. This is after he joined the coaching staff of Gautam Gambhir in the capacity of an assistant coach in July 2024.
