Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan shoots team India’s beach volleyball session in Barbados ahead of West Indies tour

On Saturday, July 1, some members of team India landed in Barbados in a bid to prepare for their forthcoming multiformat series against West Indies. During their visit, team India will play two Test matches, three ODIs, and five T20Is against the hosts. Additionally, the two-match Test series will be the Rohit Sharma-led side’s first assignment in the new World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle.

Ahead of the start of the first Test, many star players including Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, and head coach Rahul Dravid were all involved in a volleyball session on the seashore in Barbados. The first Test will be contested at the Windsor Park Dominica, Roseau, which will begin on July 12.

In the same vein, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter and posted a video of the Indian players playing beach volleyball. In the video, keeper-batter Ishan Kishan was the one who was seen operating the camera.

India suffered a humiliating defeat to Australia in second edition of the WTC Final

Team India are coming off an embarrassing defeat in the 2023 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval in London, earlier in June. As a result of the lacklustre performance of nearly all of the players, Pat Cummins-led Australia outplayed Team India by a margin of 209 runs. Unfortunately, it was India’s second consecutive defeat in the summit clash, having been defeated by the Black Caps in the inaugural edition in 2021.

West Indies, on the other hand, are also coming off a heartbreak after failing to qualify for the forthcoming 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, which will be held in India in October-November. The Windies were knocked out of the tournament after being defeated by Scotland in the Super Six clash of the ongoing ODI World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe after being dismissed by the Netherlands and the hosts. Notably, they will play Oman and Sri Lanka in their final two Super Six matches before hosting India.
