After their recent loss in the two-match Test series against Rohit Sharma-led India, the West Indies will now gear up for a three-match ODI series against the Indian team. It is worth noting that the ODI series is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 27, with the last game of the three-match series to be held on Tuesday, August 1.
With the series right around the corner, the West Indies came forward to announce their ODI squad that will take on India. After their crushing defeats at the ODI World Cup Qualifiers and missing out on the marquee tournament, the West Indies will be keen on a rebuild and will look to get back to peak form as soon as possible.
The squad that was announced for the ODI series featured many names that had previously featured for the national team. Making his return, hard-hitter Shimron Hetmyer was included in the squad. Furthermore, pacer Oshane Thomas was also included alongside Jayden Seales and leg spinner Yannick Cariah.

Furthermore, with the selection of the squad, lead selector Desmond Haynes took center stage and came forward to welcome both Thomas and Hetmyer into their 50-over setup. He also heaped praise on both players, opining that Thomas’ pace and Hetmyer’s finishing abilities could come in handy for the hosts.
“We welcome Oshane and Shimron back into the group. Both have played at the international level before, with some success, and we believe they will fit well into the set-up,” Desmond Haynes was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
“Oshane brings pace and is a potential wicket-taker with the new ball. Shimron’s style of batting will offer a lot, especially in the middle stage of the innings and he is also a potential ‘finisher’,” he added.
