India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan held on to the ball a bit longer as he failed to dismiss West Indies skipper Rovman Powell during the second T20I match on Sunday, August 6. Notably, the Windies narrowly won the contest by two wickets at the Providence Stadium in Guyana and with this, they extended the lead 2-0 in the five-match series.

Speaking about the match, the Men in Blue posted a modest 152 runs in their stipulated 20 overs of the contest. During the run-chase, one peculiar incident grabbed the attention of numerous fans as Ishan Kishan failed to draw curtains on Rovman Powell’s innings while being behind the stumps.

In the first ball of the seventh over, Yuzvendra Chahal delivered a short ball towards the leg side which went down as a wide while being up against rival skipper Powell. However, Ishan, who had an opportunity to send Powell packing, failed to dismiss the latter as he held on to the ball a tad bit longer and could not manage to stump him in time.

Ishan Kishan waited, and waited! But ended up waiting too long, perhaps!

In any case, Powell was eventually sent packing for 21 off 19 balls by his counterpart Hardik Pandya. His innings featured one four and a solitary maximum at a strike rate of 110.52.

What followed was a belligerent innings by Nicholas Pooran, who smashed 67 off 40 balls as he smoked four sixes and six fours at a solid strike rate of 167.50. Despite Hardik and Chahal claiming three and two wickets, respectively, the Windies won the contest by two wickets and seven balls remaining.

Notably, Pooran was adjudged player of the match for his knock as the Windies extended their lead 2-0 in the series. Rovman Powell and Co. will be eager to take an unassailable lead in the third T20I so as to clinch the five-match series in Guyana.
