India handed debut caps to two players for the first Test against West Indies as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan represented the team in whites. While Jaiswal grabbed everyone’s attention for all the right reasons, Ishan Kishan too managed to be in the news for his on-field antics. On Day 3 of the Dominica Test, Ishan caught attention when he tried an Alex Carey-like stumping.

During West Indies’ second innings, Kishan attempted a cheeky stumping of Jason Holder twice while keeping the gloves for India. Ishan, in a cheeky manner, tried to take Holder off guard in the game’s 31st over. After Holder failed to cut Ravindra Jadeja short, Kishan waited for Holder to leave the crease before removing the bails.

In the 33rd over of the game, Holder did leave the crease, which led to the second instance of the same. This time, the on-field umpires informed Kishan that the over had already been declared when he stumped Holder and hence the outcome was not out.

In the second Test of the Ashes 2023, Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey attempted to stump Jonny Bairstow by throwing the ball from behind the wicket at the batter’s stumps. Before the umpires declared the over dead, Bairstow had left his crease after the final ball of that particular over was bowled. The third umpire was tasked with taking the final call, and he gave his decision in Australia’s favor as Bairstow was declared run-out.

Speaking of the game, India managed to wrap things up on Day 3 as Ravichandran Ashwin‘s brilliance with the ball saw the visitors clinching a win by an innings and 141 runs. India declared the innings with a 271-run lead, after Jaiswal and Virat Kohli’s innings game to an end. After a poor outing in the first innings, West Indies batters failed to make a mark even in the second innings.

Ashwin bowled a record-breaking spell and picked up a seven-wicket haul to bundle out the hosts for 130. As a result, India clinched a victory and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
