WI vs BAN 2024: Mustafizur Rahman set to miss Windies Tests due to personal reasons

Bangladesh will be touring West Indies for the multi-format series. The series will commence from November 22 with the first Test of two match series, followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is. Ahead of the tour, the Bangla Tigers will be stepping onto the Caribbean land without the services of their premier pacer, Mustafizur Rahman. It is worth noting that, he only features in the ODIs and T20Is while keeping Test leg at bay.

The white-ball fixtures will commence with the first ODI on December 8 at the Warner Park in St Kitts. Mustafizur is set to miss the whole of the white-ball fixtures as he has sought leave from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). As per Cricbuzz, the 29-year-old will be on leave as his wife is expecting their child. It is worth noting that BCB awaits the pacer’s arrival from the UAE before taking a decision on the same.

“It’s true that he (Mustafizur) asked for leave (during the white-ball series against West Indies) but we are yet to take a decision as there is still time in our hands. Let him come, and we can talk over the matter and see whether he can be available for one format (ODIs, T20Is) or not. At the same time we have to consider this is a family issue and it is top priority for everyone,” a BCB official was quoted as saying.

The left-arm pacer is currently embroiled in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in the UAE. The series is poised at 1-1 and the decider will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on November 11. Mustafizur is expected to finish the final game and land in Dhaka on November 13.
