India were handed a comprehensive 184-run defeat in the Boxing Day Test by Australia as they took a 2-1 lead in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. With the final Test in currently ongoing in Sydney, India are in dire need of a win and to retain the trophy. A lot is at stake for the visitors as a loss would officially end their WTC final qualification, which even currently is not in India’s hands as they need other results to go their way.
Meanwhile, a recent Indian Express report following the Melbourne Test claimed that the Indian dressing room was in chaos, with head coach Gautam Gambhir venting it out at players. It was further added that a senior player, labelled “Mr. Fix it” in the report, volunteered to be an interim captain amid Rohit Sharma’s poor returns. Reacting to the same, former India cricketer Robin Uthappa has called out the unnamed senior and termed him as a “disappointment” for keeping personal agendas ahead while the team is going through a lean patch.

“Whoever Mr. Fix-It is, I think is an absolute disappointment of a human being at this point in time. I think whoever that is, he should be really ashamed of himself. At a time when you need to keep the team together to progress a personal agenda, is completely, in my opinion, pathetic. You don’t put yourself ahead of your team, irrespective of how bad things are,” said Uthappa in a video uploaded on Instagram.
“At that point in time, you actually double down on your team. You double down and say, ‘I’ll do whatever is required at that point in time.’ Whoever this person is, whether it’s a senior, not a senior, it does not matter, has to be named and shamed. This has to stop. This level of childishness and personal agenda being driven forward at a time when the team needs more unity, has to stop,” Uthappa added.

For the unversed, India captain Rohit Sharma, who was going through a rough patch throughout the series, stepped down for the last Test in Sydney. It is worth noting that the right-handed battr accrued just 33 runs in five innings. In his absence, Jasprit Bumrah is leading the team in the fifth Test.
