From KL Rahul’s half-century to Sam Curran’s brilliance with the ball, the 21st game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings featured many performances that lit the stage on fire.  However, there was one performance that stood out, and that was the sensational spell of 25-year-old Yudhvir Singh Charak.

Born in Jammu, Yudhvir has been a part of the IPL setup for a few years now. Earlier, as a net bowler for the five-time champions Mumbai Indians, he had little chance in the starting lineup of Mumbai. However, things were bound to change for the pacer when the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants roped him in the IPL 2023 mini auctions held in December 2022. Yudhvir was brought in by Lucknow for INR 20 lakhs.

Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, Yudhvir Singh has represented his home state and Hyderabad in the Indian domestic circuit. He has three wickets in four first-class games, 13 wickets in eight list-A matches, and six wickets in 15 T20.

After a brilliant performance against Punjab Kings at the IPL 2023, Yudhvir Singh would be keen on putting out similar performances for the KL Rahul-led side in the forthcoming games of the competition if he is provided with chances in the future.

The debutant bowled three overs against the Sam Curran-led Punjab Kings and took two wickets for just 19 runs to provided Lucknow the perfect start with the ball. He sent Atharva Taide packing on a duck and was quick to dismiss Prabhsimran Singh for four runs.

His new-ball spell helped Lucknow to build early pressure on their oppenents. However, Punjab Kings eventually managed to chase the target with two wickets in hand. Despite the loss, the young Yudhvir certainly proved that he had what it takes to perform at the biggest stage.
