Chennai Super Kings batter Ruturaj Gaikwad is all set to tie the knot with fiance Utkarsha Pawar on June 3. The cricketer decided not to travel with the Indian team for the World Test Championship final for the same reason. He had a stellar season in the recently concluded Indian Premier League, scoring 590 runs in 16 matches and eventually helping the team win their fifth title in the competition.

Notably, Utkarsha, who was born on October 13, 1998, currently plays cricket for Maharashtra. She is studying at the Institute of Nutrition and Fitness Sciences (INFS), Pune. She is reported to be playing cricket since the age of 11 and is an all-rounder. Recently, the 24-year-old featured in the Women’s Senior One-Day Trophy.

Meanwhile, youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal will be replacing Gaikwad in India’s WTC final reserve squad. The cricketer has played some tremendous cricket in the domestic arena and in IPL 2023, where he smashed 625 runs in 14 matches and finished fifth in the IPL Orange Cap race. Many former cricketers including Ravi Shastri and Harbhajan Singh wanted the team management to consider Jaiswal for a national call-up and a stellar IPL season has made his case.

When it comes to Gaikwad, he has been in and out for quite some time. He got his opportunity in the Indian team in the past but could not make the most of it. The 26-year-old played one ODI match, scoring 19 runs while he has 135 runs in nine T20Is for Inidia. He played some sensational cricket in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and helped Maharastra qualify for the finals of the competition, where they eventually lost to Saurashtra by five wickets.

He is currently not in the scheme of things when it comes to white-ball cricket but if he manages to keep up with the momentum, the cricketer can soon get into the Indian team and join the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan.
