Who is Gurnoor Brar? – All you need to know about Gujarat Titans’ fast-bowling sensation

Gujarat Titans (GT) won a bidding war with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to secure the services of talented Punjab fast bowler Gurnoor Brar on Day 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Monday, November 25.

Brar had a base price of INR 30 lakh. However, the bidding process saw him ending up with an impressive salary of INR 1.30 crore. The 24-year-old was a part of Punjab Kings in IPL 2023. He played just one game against Lucknow Super Giants in the cash-rich league. However, it wasn’t a memorable debut outing for him as he conceded 42 runs in three overs and went wicketless.

Brar’s advantage is his tall frame as he stands at 6 feet 6 inches. He has the ability to hit the deck hard and extract extra bounce. He was the highest wicket-taker in the 2024 Sher-E-Punjab T20 league, with 22 scalps from 11 games.

Brar also recently bowled at the Chepauk nets to the India batters ahead of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh in September and made some of them feel uncomfortable with his pace and bounce. He joined the camp as the Indian team management wanted someone who could give their batters the ideal practice ahead of their encounter with tall Bangladesh speedster Nahid Rana.

Brar had been associated previously with the Titans as a net bowler. He will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with star speedsters like Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna at the Shubman Gill-led franchise.

The Muktsar-born was in scintillating form during the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season as he bagged 20 wickets from five matches at an average of 16.45 and a strike rate of 31.65. He didn’t have a great start in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, as he conceded 41 runs in his two overs against Bengal. However, the youngster has age on his side and can work wonders under the guidance of legendary former pacer Ashish Nehra, who is the head coach of the Titans.
