India won the England series 4-1 on the back of some heroic performances by the host players. Player of the Series Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel, who made his debut in this series, spoke exclusively to JioCinema on ‘Match Centre Live’ post the day’s play. Excerpts:

On the bond they share with each other:

Jurel: We started our journey together from U19 days, we played a series together, then the U-19 World Cup and luckily, we’re playing for the same franchise in IPL. So, when he is not around, it feels like something is missing. Even in the dressing room, we keep meeting each other, even after meeting others, we end up being together again.

Jaiswal: Yes, we go around and always end up coming back to each other. Infact, it happened today as well. I told him – Why am I seeing you wherever I go?

Jaiswal, on the equation with Rohit Sharma: It’s very fun to be around him (Rohit) in the dressing room. We get to learn a lot of things from him, his attitude towards the game is just incredible. He easily understands what’s going on in my mind while batting, so he comes up to me and shares his inputs with which I easily get out of that phase. So, I feel he reads me well and comforts me mentally, whenever he feels that I am looking stiff. So that’s very helpful.

Jaiswal, on the guidance from Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma: We have had a lot of discussions about the game and overall, about how the wicket is playing while we are playing on different venues, and how we can play good cricket, session by session. So, it was very fun throughout the entire series, and I thoroughly enjoyed their guidance.

Jurel, on eyeing T20 World Cup spot: To be very honest, I don’t think about these things, it only results into unnecessary pressure. I just feel that the way I’m here today, I’ll reach my destination at its destined timing. But yes, I’m waiting for white ball cricket, I can’t wait to smash sixes, it’s been a long time playing patiently and I can’t wait to move towards IPL.
