Even though Rinku Singh’s valiant effort of scoring 67* runs off 33 deliveries against Lucknow Super Giants in Eden Gardens on May 20 eventually went in vain, the cricketer earned a lot of appreciation from former cricketers. Previously, Ravi Shastri and Harbhajan Singh stated that the cricketer can soon get into the Indian team and after the match against LSG, former KKR skipper and current LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir lauded the Aligarh-born cricketer and appreciated Rinku’s knock against the Krunal Pandya-led side.
Notably, with over 40 runs required in the last two overs, things were not easy for Rinku in the middle. Nevertheless, the cricketer gave his all as KKR went on to lose the match by just one run. Overall, the 25-year-old has scored 474 runs in 14 matches in the ongoing IPL 2023 and with that, he is currently ninth in the IPL Orange Cap race. Meanwhile, right after the completion of the match, Gambhir took to Twitter to acknowledge Rinku’s superb effort in the middle.
“What an effort by Rinku today! Sensational talent,” Gambhir tweeted.
You know how much I love u Kolkata: Gambhir
Courtesy of a nail-biting win over KKR, LSG have qualified for the IPL playoffs and will be taking on either Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, or Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator. However, following their qualification, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir was pleased as he was spotted celebrating aggressively with other members of the squad. The former cricketer was also spotted passing a lot of information to Krunal Pandya, who is currently leading the team in KL Rahul’s absence.
Meanwhile, after the win, Gambhir became emotional as a lot of fans were spotted cheering for the southpaw and wanted him to make his return to Kolkata. Notably, under his able leadership, KKR managed to win IPL twice, and remembering that, a few KKR fans brought banners that stated, ‘Bring back GG to KKR’. Thanking them for their support, Gambhir also talked about his love for Kolkata.
“You know how much I love u Kolkata,” Gambhir tweeted.
