Hosts West Indies (WI) are currently trailing in the three-match T20I series against the visitors Bangladesh (BAN) by a 0-1 margin. The two teams will lock horns in the second T20I on Wednesday, December 18, at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, in St Vincent.

It is an open secret that West Indies love playing in the T20 format. They have done well to re-establish themselves as a formidable team in the shortest format of the game by producing some memorable results in recent times. They came into the Bangladesh series after drawing a five-match rubber against England at home last month by a 2-2 margin.

In the first T20I against Bangladesh, West Indies bowlers put on an impressive show as they restricted the opposition to 147/6 in their 20 overs at Arnos Vale Ground. Akeal Hosein was the pick of the bowlers for the Caribbean side as he bagged a couple of wickets and conceded just 13 runs in his four overs. Meanwhile, Soumya Sarkar top-scored with the bat for the tourists.

In reply, West Indies lost seven wickets for 61 runs inside the first 12 overs and were on the verge of suffering a heavy defeat. However, captain Rovman Powell’s remarkable knock of 60 off 35 balls helped the hosts get within touching distance of the target. In the end, Hasan Mahmud held his nerves in the last over as he successfully defended 10 runs. The Windies lost by seven runs to go 0-1 down in the series.

Pitch Report:

The average first innings score at the Arnos Vale Ground in eight T20Is is 135. Seven matches have been won by teams batting first. Batting in the second innings is difficult at this venue as the pitch slows down considerably. The captain who wins the toss should look to bat first and post a total of around 160.

WI vs BAN Probable Playing XIs

West Indies:

West Indies could bring in either Keacy Carty or Justin Greaves in place of Andre Fletcher and ask Pooran to keep wickets. Fletcher, who is a top-order batter, got out for a duck after coming out to bat at No. 5. Having specialist middle-order batters like Carty or Greaves at No. 5 could be beneficial for the two-time T20 World Cup champions.

Predicted XI

Brandon King, Johnson Charles, Nicholas Pooran, Roston Chase, Andre Fletcher (wk), Rovman Powell (c), Gudakesh Motie, Akeal Hosein, Romario Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph, Obed McCoy.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh should look to stick to the same XI which helped them win the low-scoring thriller on Monday unless there is some last-minute injury concern.

Predicted XI

Tanzid Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das (c/wk), Afif Hossain, Jaker Ali, Mahedi Hasan, Shamim Hossain, Rishad Hossain, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud.
