West Indies to tour Sri Lanka for white-ball matches from October 13 to 26

Sri Lanka Cricket announced the fixtures of West Indies’ white-ball tour to Sri Lanka today. The West Indies, who will be visiting Sri Lanka for their first bilateral series since March 2020 in the white-ball format, are scheduled to partake in three T20Is followed by as many ODIs.

With the 20-over leg commencing on October 13, each of the two other games are spaced equally with there being a day’s gap of rest between each fixture. The ODI segment is slated to kickstart on October 20 with a two-day gap between matches. As for the venues, the first-half of the limited overs series will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium and the 50-over games will be held at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Mixed results for Windies in Sri Lanka

As far as T20Is are concerned, the West Indies have won four of the six games played vs Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.

However, the longer white-ball format is the one where the Windies have taken a beating over the years. Out of the 17 games played, Sri Lanka has managed to emerge victorious in 12 of them with only three of them going in the favour of the West Indian outfit. A couple of games have been abandoned due to rain.

The last time the West Indies made their way to Sri Lanka was just before the COVID-19 pandemic took over. After a couple of tour matches, the ODI series got underway which was followed by the T20I series. The two series were whitewashed by the hosts and the visitors, respectively.
