‘We will worry about result in fifth day’s final session’ – Shanto exudes optimism ahead of Chennai Test

Najmul Hossain exudes optimism ahead of Chennai Test

Bangladesh are riding high after they whitewashed Pakistan in their den. The result has made the upcoming series against India a tussle to watch out for as they are no longer termed as the underdogs. India captain Rohit Sharma also quipped that the team is not complacent and expects a fight from Bangladesh like any other team.

Ahead of the series opener in Chennai on September 19, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain has stated that the team is finding strength within irrespective of external pressure. Hossain also added that the Bangla Tigers are entering the fray with a unanimous goal to win the game.

“I think it’s important to think about ourselves rather than thinking about opponents. What strengths we have. I believe we have the ability to play good cricket here. It’s important how we can play good cricket for five days. Every international team aims to win every match. We have the same goal as well that we will play to win,” said Najmul as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“We will do what’s needed to win a match. We will worry about the result in the final session of the fifth day. Before that, we will try to play according to our strengths. We played very good cricket in Pakistan but now that is in the past. But as you mentioned, that gives us a lot of confidence. But we are here to play a new series and the dressing room believes that we can play very good cricket here. And we are not thinking about the outcome, we are just trying to follow our processes,” he added.

For India, Mohammed Shami is still not a match ready and Jasprit Bumrah is set to lead the attack with Mohammed Siraj. KL Rahul has made a comeback to the longer format after getting snubbed from the England series. Akash Deep is set to add to his solitary Test caps after his impressive outing in the Duleep Trophy 2024.
