India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel opened up on the team’s poor bowling performance during the second Test in Adelaide. Morkel analysed where the India bowlers had missed the mark in the Pink Ball Test where the Aussie batters dominated them.

Australia have won the second Test at Adelaide by 10 wickets in the first session of Day 3. It was another disappointing day for India who found themselves in trouble once again and would need to do something special to make a comeback in the series.

Indian bowlers missed the mark

The Indian batters displayed another poor performance in Adelaide. Similarly, the Indian bowlers were not really effective as they were in Perth. Morne Morkel talked about India’s poor performance with the ball especially on Day 1.

“If I wind my clock to the first Test match, our lines and lengths were exceptional. It was sort of the blueprint for us going into this Test series. We wanted bring the stumps into play as much as possible and I thought last night with the ball moving around a little bit, we missed that. We were slightly off the mark with finding the right sort of length and at times, we were a touch wide. Allowed the guys to leave a lot of balls. That was a learning,” said Morkel as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Even though the Indian bowlers did make a comeback and got Australia all out for 337, the fact that they let them settle and create a platform created more problems for the team. This was another underwhelming Test match for the Indian team where they failed with both bat and ball in a pink ball Test against the Aussies.
