Former India international Virender Sehwag expects the World Cup trophy in Virat Kohli’s hands on November 19 in Ahmedabad. Notably, he reminded that in 2011, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, all the players were desperate to win in order to honour the legendary career of Sachin Tendulkar and he expects the Men in Blue to repeat the same for Virat Kohli in the upcoming edition.

Speaking about the same, Sehwag mentioned that Kohli deserves to finish his career on a high note and winning the world cup will be the icing on the cake as far as his majestic career is concerned. Sehwag went on to add that Virat knows how to deliver under pressure and expects him to step up if India qualifies for the finals of the competition.

“We played that World Cup for Tendulkar. If we won the World Cup, it would have been a great exit for Sachin paaji. Virat Kohli is the same now. Everybody will look to win the World Cup for him. He always gives more than 100 percent,” Sehwag told Star Sports.

“I think Virat Kohli is also looking to this World Cup. 100,000 people will watch you at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Virat knows how the pitches will behave. I am sure he will score a lot of runs and he will do his best to win the World Cup for India,” he added.

Notably, Virat has once again regained his form after a shaky couple of years spent in search of the same in the international circuit. He was absolutely phenomenal in the last editions of the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup and will be hoping to carry the same form in the marquee ODI tournament.

In the recently concluded Indian Premier League, the cricketer once again stepped up to the challenge and if he manages to remain in the same touch, India can very well dream of their third ODI World Cup triumph.

Meanwhile, the Rohit Sharma-led side will begin its road to the upcoming ODI World Cup via a three-match ODI series against West Indies. Currently, a lot of players are injured and thus, there are certain concerns at the moment but the team will be hopeful to get the job done in the tournament.
