Australian captain Alyssa Healy has asked her team to elevate their performances in the remaining Women’s Ashes matches after losing the T20I series. As England secured the series after winning the third T20I, the Australian captain accepted that her team failed to execute their plans.

Currently, the Australian team have got a 6-4 lead in the multi-format series as they had got a 6-0 lead after winning the one-off Test and the first T20I but England’s comeback in the shortest format has given them four points and now it has made the ODI series very crucial for them. If England wants to secure an Ashes victory, they will have to win all three ODIs considering their 2-1 triumph in the T20I series.

“They displayed an exceptional innings; unfortunately, we couldn’t execute our plans as effectively as we had hoped,” stated Healy during the post-match presentation.

Alyssa Healy emphasized the significance of addressing these issues before the upcoming ODI series, acknowledging the demanding schedule while expressing the team’s determination to rest and refocus for the next game.

“We need to rectify a few aspects before entering the ODI series. The schedule is quite demanding, and all we desire is some rest and the ability to concentrate on the next game,” she added.

Meanwhile, in the last match, Australia batted first and posted 155/7 on the board, with significant contributions from Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, and Beth Mooney. England’s Nat Sciver and Katherine Brunt stood out in the bowling department, with Sciver taking 2/31.

Due to rain, England’s chase was reduced and the revised target was 119 in 14 overs. Danielle Wyatt (26) and Nat Sciver (25) laid a solid foundation, setting the stage for young all-rounder Alice Capsey to showcase her batting prowess. Capsey’s quickfire 46 off 23 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes, propelled England to a five-wicket victory. Megan Schutt was the pick of the bowlers for Australia, taking 2/35.

Capsey’s exceptional performance earned her the well-deserved ‘Player of the Match’ award, while Danielle Wyatt, who scored 109 runs in the series, including a blistering 76 in the second T20I, clinched the “Player of the Series” accolade.

As the ODI series commences on Wednesday, July 12, England will be keen to maintain their momentum and secure crucial wins to overturn their T20I series defeat. Alyssa Healy and her Australian team, however, will be eager to rectify their shortcomings and ensure a strong response in their quest to retain the Ashes. The battle between these two fierce rivals promises to deliver thrilling encounters in the coming days.
