Bangladesh’s latest sensation, Nahid Rana, has impressed everyone with his pace and recent performance. As the Bangladesh cricket team prepares for their upcoming Test series against India, all eyes are on this 21-year-old speedster.

In Bangladesh’s previous historic 2-0 win over Pakistan, Rana consistently clocked speeds of 150 kmph. His best performance came in the second innings of the final Test in Rawalpindi, where he claimed four wickets for just 44 runs, playing a crucial role in Bangladesh’s clean sweep. The Chapainawabganj-born is all set to face a tougher challenge ahead.

“We are well prepared for the India series. We have started training. The more we are prepared, the better we will be in execution during the matches. India are a good team but the team that plays better cricket will win. We will see when we go there,” Rana said in a video shared by Bangladesh Cricket on X

I will strive to give my best: Nahid Rana

Apart from his recent exploits, his journey to international level is remarkable. His formal cricket training began in 2020 after completing college. In just three years, he has transformed from a no-one to a national hero, making his First-Class debut in October 2021 and quickly having success at the international level.

“I will strive to give my best. Pace is something you can’t always predict – it depends a lot on rhythm. Sometimes, it just clicks, and suddenly you find yourself hitting those speeds. I never set out to clock 152 kmph or push past that. I just focused on executing the team’s plan. My friends and folks back in the village are really happy about my achievement,” he added.

What sets Rana apart is not just his pace, but his ability to maintain it over long spells. His breakthrough moment came when he crossed the 150-kmph mark on his Test debut against Sri Lanka earlier this year.
