The ongoing Vitality County Championship has given fans some thrilling moments and nailbiters so far. While several bizarre runouts have been seen over the years, a runout which happened during the Worcestershire versus Essex game, being played at Chelmsford, has taken the internet by storm.
Notably, the skipper of Worcestershire, Brett D’Oliveira, displayed some sharp reflexes and inflicted two crucial outs, which turned the tide of the match in his side’s favor. D’Oliviera who was stationed at silly mid-on region, deliberately ricocheted the ball onto the stumps at non-striker’s end after batter Jordan Cox tried to drive Van Beek’s ball past the fielder. At one stage, Essex was cruising well with 69/2 on the board.
However, in just a span of three balls, the side slumped to 71/4. The credit majorly was accredited to none other than the Worcestershire Captain, who after removing Robin Das at the non-striker’s end, took a sharp catch to send another dangerous Essex batter in Cox. As a result, Brett D’Oliveira’s side sealed the game by 43 runs.
