The flame which started in the Lord’s Test between Australia and England is only getting stronger. Both the teams are trying to gain an upper hand in the third Ashes Test with mind games both on and off the field. Therefore, the intense rivalry and the rage which got started, courtesy of Jonny Bairstow’s dismissal doesn’t seem to extinguish anytime soon. In the latest incident involving the English stumper tried to get into the head of Australia’s mainstay by trolling him after he got dismissed in the second innings of the ongoing Headlingey Test.

Notably, Steve Smith was hoping to build a good partnership to gain a significant lead over the hosts, albeit, spinner Moeen Ali had other ideas as the Australian became his 200th Test victim. Smith ended up whipping straight to the mid-wicket catcher in the form of  Ben Duckett. As the Australian started to walk back towards the pavilion, Bairstow said something to Smudge which did not go down well with modern great.

For the uninitiated, it was in the first innings that Steve Smith took a good catch in the slip cordon to end Bairstow’s misery at the crease. Probably to gain a mental edge over the opposition, the English stumper tried to give a send-off to Smith.

“See ya, Smudge,” Bairstow said to Smith after his dismissal.

Though, Steve Smith failed to comprehend what Bairstow was saying to him, the keeper did not hold back and clarified again that he was going to meet him soon again.

“I said ‘see you later’,” the English stumper darted back again which left Smith furious.

Moeen Ali strikes twice to keep the game evenly poised for England

Meanwhile, speaking of the ongoing third Ashes Test, the England off-spinner, Moeen Ali, picked two key wickets in succession to allow Australia any smooth sailing towards setting a big target for the home side. Ali dismissed Marnus Labuschagne (33 off 77 balls) and Steve Smith (2 off 9 balls) to bring England back into the contest.

Currently, the visitors are 116/4 at stumps on Day 2, with first-innings hero, Mitchell Marsh (17* off 43 balls) and Travis Head (18 off 52 balls) occupying the crease in an attempt to bail the visitors out of trouble. Currently, Australia lead England by 142 runs.
