WATCH- Virat Kohli successfully orchestrates Steve Smith’s dismissal; video goes viral (Source: Disney+Hotstar)
Team India have given themselves a chance in the second innings of the ongoing Boxing Day Test. The Australian side lost half of their side early on Day 4 with pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj causing most of the damage to the hosts.
The Melbourne Test already witnessed one of the outstanding knocks under pressure from a young Nitish Reddy. As a result, the Indian side were able to reduce their deficit margin quite significantly as they got bowled out for a total of 369. After that, it was time for the Indian bowlers to join the comeback party as they left Australia reeling for 135/6 at Tea.
This essentially meant that the hosts have given them a chance of a win to stay alive in the Test match which was looking like Australia’s game at the start. Among all the wickets which fell on Day 4, Steve Smith’s wicket was a tactful dismissal, courtesy of Virat Kohli who came up with a master plan to dismiss the in-form Australian cheaply.
In a video that is now going viral, it can be seen that the Indian legend suggested Mohammed Siraj bowl wide off the crease as picked by the stump. Interestingly, Kohli’s plan worked to perfection as Smith, who was seemingly playing for the inswinger, ended up chasing the ball outside off stump, only to hand a simple catch to Rishabh Pant behind the stumps.
“From the corner, every ball from the corner, he doesn’t like it coming from the corner,” Virat Kohli from the stump mic talking to Siraj in Hindi.

Currently, the hosts have a lead of 296 runs and will look to extend the target beyond the 300-run mark. While India have a sniff at attempting to chase down the target given that more than a day of play is still left to decide the outcome of the Melbourne Test.
