Day 3 of the ongoing first Test between India and Bangladesh proved to be a fruitful one for the hosts. Having scored 81 runs with the loss of three wickets by the end of day 2, India kicked off day 3 in the perfect way. Star batters Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant played magnificent innings to help the hosts post a big total on the board. 

Batting throughout the majority of day 3, the 25-year-old remained unbeaten on 119* runs in 176 deliveries, whereas Rishabh Pant added 109 runs on the scoreboard. However, in a viral moment, Gill’s father, Lakhwinder Singh, was captured celebrating his son’s century. In a clip that has been going viral all over social media, Gill’s father was captured giving a standing ovation to his son after he completed his ton at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

After getting out for a duck in the first innings, Shubman Gill made up for his blunder in the second and put in a good showing. Courtesy of the brilliant performances of Gill and Pant, team India declared on the score of 287. As a result, Bangladesh were given a stiff target of 515 runs by the Indian team.

Bangladesh require 357 runs more to defeat India

Speaking of the game, after Team India declared, Bangladesh batted for a good chunk of day 3 as well. The side opened its innings with Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam scoring 33 and 35 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahman scored 13 runs each.

Day 3 of the clash ended with Bangladesh on a score of 158 runs with the loss of four wickets and Najmul Hossain Shanto staying unbeaten alongside Shakib Al Hasan. In their mammoth chase of 515 runs, Bangladesh need 357 runs more to chase down the target and register a win for the ages. However, team India will be keen on bundling out the side as soon as possible on day 4 and get the lead in the series.
